The Challenge

Our brief was to design, build and install a highly immersive Escape Room experience aboard a luxury cruise ship preparing to sail around the Red Sea. As the cruise line was Saudi Arabian, the experience needed to be fully accessible in both English and Arabic, without compromising immersion or gameplay flow.

Delivering an Escape Room at sea presented a uniquely complex set of challenges. The cruise ship environment brought with it an extensive range of regulatory, safety and compliance requirements, including strict fire, material and installation standards.

Every detail — from construction materials to fixings, finishes and electronics — required careful consideration and approval to meet maritime regulations.

The Solution

We produced a meticulously detailed design and technical pack to ensure full compliance with the ship’s stringent requirements. This included adapting our usual build approach to adhere to strict material limitations, replacing many standard Escape Room materials with fire-rated and marine-approved alternatives.

The experience was manufactured by our UK-based build team and fully assembled for a comprehensive test run prior to shipment, allowing for client sign-off and regulatory approval. Once approved, the experience was transported to the ship’s docking station in Bremerhaven, Germany, where our team completed a three-week on-site installation.

The finished experience incorporates some of the world’s leading Escape Room technology, paired with fully integrated surround sound and dynamic lighting systems. Designed for operational efficiency, the room features automated game flow and clue delivery, enabling minimal operator involvement while maintaining a seamless, high-end guest experience.
